Quakes Close to Signing an Argentine Forward

Quakes General Manager John Doyle disclosed that the Quakes are close to signing Argentinean forward Federico Arias. Arias, now 28, first began playing professionally in Argentina in 1998 for Rosario Central than later also played for Velez Sarsfield, Quilmes and Belgrano. He's played outside of his home country before with Southampton in England, Sporting Crsital and Coronel Bolognesi in Peru, Martina Franca in Italy. The stint in England was a forgettable five-months in 2003 with then-English Premier League side Southampton in which he failed to make a first-team appearance. Arias is expected to sign once he successfully passes a physical.
