Ronnie O'Brien on his way to San Jose from TFC? [updated]

Rumor is that Ronnie O'Brien is leaving Toronto and may be on his way in a trade to San Jose. There is currently no news on what the Earthquakes would give up in return but O'Brien looks almost certain to join the expansion side as soon as Wednesday. O'Brien was described by Mo Johnston as 'the best right-sided player in the MLS' when he introduced him in Toronto one year ago but O'Brien suffered several injuries which limited his impact. It's very possible that O'Brien does not want to play on a turf field such as they have at BMO Field and that may be pushing this transaction. [Update] - Word is that the Quakes have not sent any players to TFC (Pozniak was thought to be outgoing) but the Quakes have given up some allocation money and next year's first round draft pick. Ronnie O'Brien #5 Midfielder Toronto FC Height: 5-10 Weight: 155 Born: Jan 5, 1979 - Dublin, Ireland

I thought Salinas had the R-Mid position on lock down. So far, this trade confuses me.

Good to have a quality player coming in though, the team needs depth and this way Salinas doesn't have to bear the brunt of being successful from the beginning.

Sounds like we're offloading Pozniak and allocation money/draft pick for him

Not knowing the exact line-ups from the SLO games, I figured the big holes were more along the lines of a "partner" for Corrales in the Center and someone consistent on the Left. I'm not sure why their first trade in a few weeks is for a Right side Mid guy?

They may be planning to play him at attacking midfielder, he's played there a bit at times. We'll see what Yallop says if/when the trade is confirmed.

Wonder why this trade isn't comfirmed yet by the teams? Just awaiting league approval or is there nothing to it....?
