Ivan Guerrero Traded to DC United

DC United has announced that they have acquired Ivan Guerrero from the San Jose Earthquakes for a partial allocation. Guerrero is expected to be in D.C. shortly and may very well be available for Saturday's game against the Wizards.

Guerrero has seen time in 14 games (13 starts) this year after being picked up by San Jose in the 2007 Expansion Draft. He previously played three seasons for the Chicago Fire from 2005-06, making 74 appearances (71 starts) and notching three goals and 16 assists. Guerrero holds a green card and thus will not count towards United's international roster limit.

With the Quakes picking up Huckerby recently they likely feel that Guerrero would no be able to be fully utilized. Trading Guerrero for allocation money is a sign that further transactions such as the one for James and possibly Huggins could definitely be in the works.

What are your thoughts on the loss of Guerrero? Do you feel this is a good move for the Quakes?
