Quakes Reportedly Sign Peter Byers
The Montreal Impact has confirmed that Antigua and Barbuda forward Peter Byers will not be back in 2009. Byers accepted an offer from the San Jose Earthquakes in the Major League Soccer (MLS). He joined the Impact during last season on August 19 and scored 3 goals during his 7 games.
Played the 2007-2008 season with the San Juan Jabloteh, in Trinidad and Tobago first division. That year, led the league in goals with 21 in 38 games. During the four previous seasons, Byers played with SAP FC, in Antigua and Barbuda first division championship, scoring a total of 73 goals in 79 games. He received the title of Most Valuable Player of the team three times. He also scored 18 goals in 27 games with the Antigua and Barbuda national team. He is renowned for his scoring ability as well as for his good pace and strength in holding off the ball.
